Opiate Addiction Disorder
Opiate addiction disorder is a disease that has both physical and psychological aspects. After a history of constant use of an opiate drug, the body develops a tolerance to it. Tolerance leads to increased dosages to get the desired benefit, which can lead to physical addiction. Simultaneously, the body ceases to produce its own natural stimulants, such as endorphins. Over time, it loses the ability to do so completely and becomes entirely dependent on the external opiate drug. At this stage, reducing or stopping the opiates altogether results in cravings and initiates withdrawal symptoms.
