Rapid Detox at ODI: Our Program

The ODI program begins with your first phone call. As one of America’s best rapid detox programs, patients rely on ODI’s experience and specially trained team to help them end their chemical dependency. We understand that opiate drug addiction is a serious illness that needs to be treated with understanding and the highest level of clinical excellence. Our integrated and expert team of physicians, nurses, counselors and administrators is lead by Richard Lipsky, MD., a recognized expert in the field of rapid detox. ODI has successfully treated hundreds of people for opiate addiction. We pride ourselves on combining first class service with the most advanced medical care. The ODI difference is that we build a personalized, one-to-one relationship with each of our patients. We do this in a comfortable, safe, confidential and private hospital environment.

Count on us to be with you every step of the way; from the moment you call, during your treatment, and through a transition period to maintain a drug-free lifestyle.

Day 1:

On the day of arrival, you and your support person will be greeted by our Director of Admissions. After registration, ODI physicians will guide you through our process and answer any questions that you may have. We recognize your health and safety are very important. You will meet with one of our licensed therapists to discuss the psychological and social aspects of your addiction. This will be followed by a comprehensive, executive-level physical examination by board certified physicians. Should any medical issues be detected, they will be addressed before you begin your detox treatment. ODI physicians and therapists will work with you to develop a personalized after-care maintenance plan that addresses your unique physical, mental, and emotional needs in transitioning to an opiate-free life. After admission to the hospital, you will spend the balance of the day in a comfortable room under the care of our trained nurses. Medications will be used, as needed, to ensure your comfort prior to the procedure.

Day 2:

The next day, an ODI physician performs ODI’s exclusive, patented General Anesthesia Assisted Opiate Detoxification (GAAOD) procedure which limits patient risk of over-exposure to general anesthesia to less than half an hour, while narcotic antagonists are administered. The antagonists replace opiates in the brain’s nerve receptors to prevent cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

After your treatment is completed, the nursing team will provide one-to-one care until you are discharged from the hospital about 48 hours later. While you are here in the hospital, the ODI physicians will monitor your recovery..

Day 3 / Day 4:

You will spend this time resting and recovering from the raid detox procedure. You and your support person will meet with ODI team members to receive your discharge instructions and review your personalized after-care maintenance plan.

After-care

For two weeks following your treatment, your progress will be continuously monitored through phone calls from the ODI patient care coordinator and the ODI doctors. You will be given recommendations for support groups and counseling facilities in your area and be encouraged to implement your personalized after-care maintenance plan to achieve an opiate-free life.
